This privacy policy applies to the BuySage browser extension for Chrome (formerly published as "AI Assistant for Amazon" / "Sift AI"), distributed via the Chrome Web Store.
Summary
BuySage is built to be private. In its default (Free) mode, none of your data ever leaves your browser. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no servers of our own.
What the extension does with data
- On supported shopping sites (Amazon and a curated list of other major retailers), BuySage adds an on-page panel that only appears when it detects an actual product page. When you open that panel, it reads the current product's title, price, rating, and visible reviews from the page you are already viewing in order to analyze them. This happens only on the domains listed in the extension's manifest and only for the product page you are on. In Free mode the analysis runs locally on your device and is not transmitted anywhere. AI-written summaries in Free mode are generated on your device using your browser's built-in AI (Chrome's Gemini Nano) — the review text is not sent to us or any third party.
- Pasted text in the toolbar popup is analyzed locally on your device.
- Pinned products (for the Compare feature) and history are stored only in your browser's local storage and never transmitted. Removing the extension clears them.
Optional "Pro" mode (off by default)
If you explicitly enable Pro mode and configure a backend URL in Settings, the product text is sent only to the backend URL you configure, to generate a deeper AI analysis. It is not sent to any other party, and we do not operate that backend for you.
BuySage mobile app (Android)
The BuySage Android app provides the same review analysis on mobile. You can use it by sharing a product to BuySage (Share → BuySage) or by pasting a product link. The app fetches that product's public page to analyze its reviews; the analysis runs on your device.
Optional accessibility helper (off by default). If you choose to enable it, BuySage uses Android's AccessibilityService to show a small on-screen "bubble" while you browse a product inside a supported shopping app (Amazon, Flipkart). It reads on-screen text only inside those supported shopping apps, and only to detect that you are on a product page and identify the product's name. This screen text is used on your device to look up the product and is not stored and not transmitted; only the resulting public product page is fetched to generate the analysis. The helper does not read other apps, capture passwords or keystrokes, or take any action on your behalf. The app is fully usable without it — it is an optional convenience you turn on in Android's Accessibility settings and can turn off at any time.
What we collect
Nothing is sent to us. BuySage has no analytics or tracking and does not transmit your data to the developer or any third party in Free mode. The mobile app has no accounts, no ads, and does not sell your data.
Permissions
storage— saves your settings, pinned products, and history on your own device.- Host access to a curated list of shopping domains — so the on-page panel can appear on supported product pages and read the product you're viewing. The extension runs only on the shopping domains listed in its manifest and on no other website.
activeTab+scripting— used by the toolbar popup's manual "grab from tab" action.
BuySage does not alter any site's content, place orders, or read pages outside its supported list of shopping domains.
Data sharing & sale
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties. We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose, and never for creditworthiness or lending.
Affiliation
BuySage is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon, Flipkart, eBay, Etsy, or any other retailer it supports. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
